Project size: 5 bespoke houses
Materials: 3 staircase specifications all heavily involving oak
Willowside Grange: Castlethorpe Homes
The challenge
Castlethorpe Homes is a small SME housebuilder based in Oxfordshire and the Cotswolds. For their Willowside Grange development – a collection of five bespoke houses – the team faced a critical challenge: delivering staircases that would do justice to premium residential properties where quality is paramount.Â
As Chris Warner, Managing Director of Castlethorpe Homes, explains:
“Quality is one of our keystones. When we’re building slightly more expensive or premium houses, the staircase needs to reflect that commitment to excellence.”Â
The complexity lay not just in meeting high standards, but in executing three different staircase specifications across the five properties. Each home required a unique approach – from oak with oak spindles through to oak handrails with glass panels and oak with white painted spindles. This demanded a supplier who could understand the vision, manage the intricacy, and deliver precision across multiple bespoke designs.Â
Our solution
Multi-Turn’s approach proved to be the ideal fit. Rather than treating each staircase as a simple product, they looked at the quality of the project and the vision of what the staircases could be. This deeper engagement included detailed design work, on-site measurement checks, and comprehensive surveys – creating a layered approach that future-proofs each project throughout the build lifecycle.Â
“The fact that they send through detailed design, they come and check measure, they do a detailed survey – it’s something that means we can future-proof the project throughout the lifestyle of the build,” Chris Warner notes.Â
This methodical process meant Castlethorpe Homes could feel confident in what Multi-Turn would deliver, regardless of the specification complexity.Â
The result
The impact was significant.
“They’ve added real wow factor to our project. And I think as a whole, it’s been a real success,” Chris Warner states.Â
Beyond the immediate delivery, the partnership aligned with Castlethorpe Homes’ three core business pillars: quality, community, and sustainability.
“The quality of their products sits head and shoulders above other people,” Chris Warner emphasises. “For us to keep those three pillars at the forefront of our homes, it’s making sure we’re working with people like Multi-Turn going forward.”Â
What began as a supplier relationship has evolved into an established partnership built over several years – one where the staircase manufacturer genuinely looks at the success of the staircase within the property, not just delivery of a component.Â
