To keep the wood on your stairs in good condition, you should vacuum or sweep them regularly to remove any dirt and dust. Any water or spills should be cleaned straight away, as standing liquid can penetrate and even remove the timber finish which can leave noticeable water spots.

If you have any glass elements, avoid paper-based materials that will leave streaks. Instead, opt for a clean cotton cloth and a good quality glass cleaner.

We offer a comprehensive solution to protect your stairs prior to and following delivery. Our Bronze, Silver and Platinum Protection Packages help to shield your stairs from scratches, knocks and spills. We also offer a priming and sealing option to reduce the risk of moisture saturation prior to final coatings.

Typically, most stairs begin to squeak or creak because the glue blocks were not properly fixed in the first place. As a result of shrinkage of the timber treads over time (or even through miss-use on occasion), these can become loose and start to rub against the top of the riser which causes the noise.

This is most common on winder treads which are assembled on-site and are often not secured properly, or when the stairs are walked on at a busy site environment before the glue has gone off. This can normally be rectified by replacing the little glue blocks between the tread and the riser, using plenty of glue and fixing them in place while the glue goes off.

This is one of the main reasons we use exceptionally long glue blocks as standard; they give more adhesion and reduce the chances of any squeaks happening.

If the back of the stairs cannot be accessed, you may be able to stop the squeaking by applying some glue at the front of the riser where it goes into the groove under the tread, and/or by putting some screws down through the top of the tread into the riser – but this needs doing with careful precision to make sure the riser isn’t damaged in the process.

Yes! Our team have developed multiple specialisms in wood turning, twisting, fluting and dowelling, allowing us to both match existing components and create new and unique designs.

We would suggest you speak to a professional for advice on finishes for your stairs. Ask your Account Manager for any recommendations.

What we found does help, however; is requesting your stairs to be delivered with a factory applied basecoat that helps to protect them from the mess on site and shortens the time required for finishing them.

There are many factors that will affect how long it will take, but a typical softwood staircase can generally be erected in a day, with another day or two to fit the spindles and finish off the carpentry. However, this will depend on how much landing balustrade there is and what restrictions are on site, including other tradesmen, as the hallway can be a busy place!

We do not offer a fitting service but do dry assemble all our stairs prior to delivery, to make it even easier for a qualified joiner to fit them first time.

We can supply all manner of machined timber, parts, trims etc. for your carpenter to create a bespoke under-stair solution on-site. Check out our blog for some inspiration.

As our stairs are completely bespoke, we can tailor your design to meet your requirements. However, we do offer plenty of standard configurations from straight to flat half landings to help give you an idea of what style will suit your space.
