Bespoke Staircase Delivery: What to Consider

There’s no easy way to say it: wood warps. Until it is fitted firmly in place, your wooden furniture, fixtures or fittings will be vulnerable to bowing, cupping, and twisting.

So, if your bespoke staircase is delivered to your site too early, you’re unleashing a world of headaches further down the line.

Let’s paint a picture:

You’ve ordered a staircase from X manufacturer. Beautiful design. Great service so far. You arrange for your staircase to be delivered on X date.

X date arrives and, of course, there’s been a hold up on your project. The flooring’s not down or the electrics haven’t been done.

Your staircase arrives but it’s nowhere near ready to be fitted. So, it gets placed in a separate room. Tradesmen are walking all over the place, it’s getting covered in dust, people are tripping over it…

After, say, a four-week delay, it’s finally time to fit your staircase, but guess what?

The wood has warped.

That lovely staircase you ordered is no longer fit for purpose.

Sadly, this is a common occurrence. At worst, your staircase may arrive on site before your building is even watertight. At best, it’ll be a tripping hazard that may get damaged.

There are steps you can take to avoid this costly nightmare, and in this post, we’ll explain how.

Read on to find out more.

On-Site Bespoke Stairs Delivery: The Multi-Turn Way

To avoid the unfortunate circumstance of your staircase becoming an obstacle for your tradesmen to climb over (not to mention the warping that will occur), we ensure all deliveries arrive as and when you need them.

Here’s how:

You order your staircase. We come to site to measure up around three weeks before the staircase is due to be fitted and we liaise with you to ensure everything is on track. If there are delays, that’s fine – we’ll move our production schedule along.

We don’t actually make the staircase until a week before delivery, so the chances of it arriving on site before it’s ready to be installed are virtually nil.

Working on Different Plots?

If you need to change dates or even stagger deliveries to meet the building schedules of different plots, our flexible approach means we can help you.

Our expert delivery team ensures that your stairs are not only stored correctly to minimise damage, but that they will arrive when and where you need them, too.

Not all UK staircase manufacturers offer this service

For many staircase manufacturers, this isn’t always possible. High demand and large-scale manufacturing mean that when you agree on a delivery date, you have to stick to it – even if your project has been delayed.

We’ve heard of instances where a staircase has arrived on site before the roof has even been fitted!

Do you really need the stress of having to find a safe space to store it? Wouldn’t you rather not worry about the staircase warping?

So, when you select a staircase manufacturer, make sure you work with a team that guarantees on-site delivery – to your schedule.

Conclusion – A £140 Saving

If you’ve read our previous posts, you’ll know that our site survey and factory dry assembly can save you big money.

And keeping our deliveries in-house only adds to that saving pot. In fact, we estimate that this saves you, on average, £140 per staircase.
