PROJECT BRIEF

With a specific image in mind for their home, the owner was initially set on a full metal staircase, with open risers all the way down (including the feature bottom steps).

Generally, open riser bottom steps can be a bit of challenge as it's technically difficult to support them effectively.

As a result, Multi-Turn was tasked with coming up with a solution.

OUR SOLUTION

Rather than use metal for the stairs as originally specified, Multi-Turn recommended a timber that could be painted with a product that produces a highly realistic metallic effect. This saved costs while still achieving a sleek, contemporary look and was happily approved by the owner.

We designed and produced a bespoke oak staircase comprising oak treads, open risers with oak downstands and metal spindles. Our design team was also able to create a structure that met the owner's desire for open treads on the feature bottom steps.

The staircase was delivered in full, to the contractor's tight schedule and fitted in the new house first time with no refitting work.
